Michael Chernawsky, CPA, CA, is a passionate and entrepreneurial accountant with a broad range of expertise across numerous industries. He has experience managing and overseeing all financial aspects of a company, including financial reporting, U.S. and Canadian corporate tax, treasury, budgeting, payroll, staff management and the many other financial responsibilities necessary to operate a business. He also regularly provides complex business advice regarding financings, tax structuring, sales strategies, company-wide cost reductions, and international business expansion opportunities.

Prior to founding CHY in 2016, Michael was a Controller and Manager of Financial Reporting at a publicly-traded company. Prior to that, Michael worked for 5 years at Ernst & Young (EY) in the assurance (i.e. audit), U.S. business tax and Canadian business tax service lines. He also worked as the Chief Financial Officer of a leading heavy machinery remanufacturer.

Michael is a Chartered Professional Accountant in British Columbia and Ontario (Canada). He has completed the CPA In-Depth Tax Program and the CPA In-Depth Corporate Reorganizations Course certified by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada. Michael earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree with a concentration in Accounting (high honors) from Carleton University. He is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia, the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario, the Canadian Tax Foundation and the American Bar Association (Tax Section).
